With the 2013 Victoria Derby just hours away, we have put together a comprehensive form guide to help you bet on the race.
#1 Criterion- It will be his first attempt at both the track and the distance, with his longest previous win coming over 1,200 metres.
#2 Complacent- He has never finished worse than second in his five race starts and is coming off a Group 1 win. His biggest challenge is his wide barrier draw.
#3 Savvy Nature- Following his last start win in the Mitcheltons Wines Vase over 2,040 metres, he looks to be on track to get the distance in the Victoria Derby. Will have to beat Complacent for the first time.
#4 Polanski- Has the benefit of the inside draw and two races wins under his belt in his last two runs.
#5 Drago- Hasn’t been in winning form this spring and will have to pick up considerably to be competitive in the Derby.
#6 San Diego- A definite threat, having places a strong second to Polanski over 2,000 metres last start.
#7 Honey Steel’s Gold- He has a perfect record at the race track but will have to post his first win this spring if he wants to claim the title.
#8 Tips And Beers- Tips And Beers has won both of his runs on Dead tracks, and with Flemington currently rates a Dead 4 he is a definite threat for the minor placings.
#9 Epic Saga- Experienced at the track and has been thereabouts all spring racing carnival.
#10 Tupac Amaru- His only previous run at Flemington resulted in a ninth placing in the Listed Super Impose Stakes. He will need to come on considerably to be competitive.
#11 Pinstripe Lane- He placed third behind Savvy Nature in the Mitchelton Wines Vase last start and will be out to go two better in today’s race.
#12 Throw The King- Will be looking to post his first Black Type win when he runs in the Victoria Derby.
#13 Thunder Fantasy- He will need to pick up his game after placing ninth in the Spring Champion Stakes last start.
#14 Surging Wave- Coming off a seventh place finish in the Norman Robinson Stakes last start, Surging Wave will be looking for his first win since claiming a Bendigo Maiden in September.
#15 Famechon- Looking to replicate the performance of Shamus Award in the Cox Plate, Famechon will need to break his maiden in today’s 2013 Victoria Derby.
#16 Bring Something- Another runner with no wins to his name, his last start resulted in a fifth in the Group 2 Norman Robinson Stakes.
